MOTORING SELECTS THE HONDA FIT FOR 2009 CAR OF THE YEAR!

On Saturday, February 28, 2009, MOTORING announced this year's selections for Car of the Year, as seen below by category. With competition increasingly getting tougher year over year, defining true winners proves to be a challenge. For the first time in MOTORING’s 22-year history we had a tie resulting in the Performance Car under $35,000 category with the Mitusbishi Lancer Evolution and the Subaru WRX STI. This year also marked the introduction of a new category in Green Power with GM and Chrylser’s shared Two-Mode Hybrid system edging out the Volkswagen TDI and Mercedes-Benz BlueTec diesel technologies.

From what was a tough and impressive list of candidates, we are pleased to announce the HONDA FIT as MOTORING 2009's Car of the Year. All category winners were eligible for the MOTORING 2009 Car of the Year title and with today’s financial and environmental pressures weighing in, Honda came out on top with the all-new Fit. Congrats go out to Honda for their continued success.
